“New Years Resolutions”

At this time of the year people start thinking about the coming year, changes they want to make and start spouting “New Years Resolutions”. I looked up the definition of the word ‘resolution’
  • a firm decision to do or not do something
  • the quality of being determined or resolute

When you look up the synonyms for keeping a resolution or being resolute it basically translates as the following:
  • Deciding to be determined
  • Deciding to be single-minded
  • Having will power
  • Having persistence and perseverance
  • Stick-to-it-iveness (can’t say it but love the word lol) - the ability and determination to continue doing something despite difficulties.

What I want to know is why do so many of us wait until the New Year to make potentially life-changing decisions? For example giving up cigarettes? Envision what your life could be like without them vs. continuing to have them – you don’t have to wait until the New Year.

I was just watching a Tony Robbins video on YouTube, he said that Jan 15th was the cut off date – the date when most people would have broken their New Years resolutions. So just 2 weeks into the New Year and most of us would have lost our determination, will-power, persistence, perseverance and stick-to-it-iveness WHY?

LACK OF VISION

You have to have a vision and once you have the right vision it won’t matter what time of year it is ALL your focus will be to achieve that vision. Tony Robbins said you have to have a vision that pulls you not pushes you – a vision that puts fire in your belly. Around this time last year my husband told some friends that this year we would have a new house. Our house at the time was Victorian 2 ½ bedrooms lol, 1 downstairs bathroom and rubbish parking. Selling the was news to me, I didn’t know we had any intentions of selling our house. My husband had a vision and I went along with it, in January of this year I randomly entered our details online to get the house valued, February the house was on the market, at this stage we still had no plan just a vision, March the house sold, and we moved into temporary accommodation, me, my husband our 2 year old and ‘our vision’ still looking for our new home – to cut a long story short in June we moved to our 4 bed, 3 bathroom, 1 WC and driveway for 2 cars brand spanking new never been lived in home.

What was the point of sharing that little story? We didn’t make any New Years resolutions we just had a vision for change in our life and worked single-mindedly to manifest that change. So I’m asking you:
  • What’s your VISION for YOUR life in 2017?
  • Is it a vision that’s going to pull you?
  • How are you going to manifest  that vision?
  • And most importantly do you have enough Stick-to-it-iveness to achieve that vision?

MAKE A DECISION TO MAKE  THAT CHANGE NOW, AND STICK WITH IT AFTER JANUARY 15TH
